My visit to Richmond became a memorable day for me. Mary and you certainly know how to make a guest to feel at home. Mary's meals were delicious and her apple pie was a real treat. I hope you will visit us.

Plan on staying with us in the nearest future and as usual we will have discussions and plain fun.

Give Mary our best regards.

Semi-official Thank-You-Letter

September 18, 2013

Dear Pavel Semenovich,

My daughter Emma wants to thank you for the kindness you showed her when she visited the Faculty of Marketing and Advertising, Moscow Commercial College. She has returned home full of enthusiasm.

Emma was impressed by the well-equipped laboratories, methods of teaching and the high professional level of teachers. And above all by the close and friendly relations existing among the foreign and Russian students. She again confirmed her belief that she has chosen the right school.

We would enjoy having you come for dinner and spend a nice evening.

Do give us a call, please.

                                                                                               Sincerely yours,

Charles Taylor

Thanking for an Enjoyable Weekend

Dear Mrs Wilton,

I'd like you to know how much the weekend at your lovely house in Connecticut has meant to me. That clean white snow around the house certainly cannot be compared with the slush in the streets of New York. I not only enjoyed myself immensely, but I feel relaxed and refreshed as I have not felt in months.

Many thanks to you and Mr Wilton for inviting me.

                                                                                                       Sincerely,

Timothy Surikov

April 16, 2013

Dear Mrs Surov,

I would like to thank you very much for your hospitality last night. It really was a lovely evening, and an absolutely delicious dinner. I was very pleased to meet two of your children, and your charming granddaughter, and it was also nice to see Oleg again. Most of the time while we were working we seemed to be operating under great tension, so it was really very relaxing and refreshing to have the opportunity to visit you and your family in your home.

I do hope that we may have the opportunity to meet again. Thank you once more for all your kindness and hospitality and for the very pretty tray which you so kindly gave me.

Please give my best wishes to Natalia, Andrei and Katya.

                                                                                                Yours sincerely,

Mary Conwell

Thanking for Wonderful Two Days at a Country Cottage

Dear Mrs Abbott,

Thank you very much for those two wonderful days at your little country cottage. It was a lot of fun to go skiing down the Mils and sit around the fires that Mr Abbott kept going for us in the living-room.

It was good of you and Mr Abbott to invite me, and I deeply appreciate your hospitality.

                                                                                                Sincerely yours,

Dear Ivan Yakovlevich,

I would like to thank you very much for all the help that you have given me during this trip, and while I was in London. I am really most grateful for all that you have done for me. I am very well aware that without your assistance my task would be much more difficult.

My brother Alan will be coming to Moscow during my absence, and I hope that you will see each other then, if it is convenient for you. I know that he would enjoy seeing you, if you are in Moscow.

Thank you very much for such a nice dinner last night. I am enclosing a note to Mrs Surov, to thank her. I am also enclosing a letter to our mutual friend Boris who entertained us a week ago. I would be very grateful if you could hand it to him. Again, thank you for everything. Please give my best wishes to the family. I hope that you will have a very happy Easter.

A More Detailed Letter of Recommendation Sent by Mail

PUTT BROTHERS PUBLISHING

May 14, 2012

Ms Sandra Root

1028 Avenue of Americas

New York, New York 10022

Dear Ms Root,

Maria Nelson has been my secretary for five years. I will be sorry to lose her services when she moves to New York next month. But I agree with her decision and feel she is the right person for the position she is seeking with your company.

Ms Nelson is one of those rare individuals who can both follow instructions and take initiative. Her competence extends beyond the secretarial skills for which she was originally hired, she has capabilities to organize team work and manage the personnel.

Ms Nelson put in many hours on her own for working out a document processing system which proved to be very effective. I have no hesitation in advising you to hire her.

                                               Very truly yours,

Joseph P. Putt
