Informal Letter of Introduction Delivered in Person I
Dear Fred,
In the next day or so you will receive a telephone call from Denis Strokov of Novosibirsk. He is a very good friend of mine and as he is planning to be in Manchester for a month or more, I gave him a letter of introduction to you.
I know how busy you are, Fred, and I do not want you to regard this as an obligation. But I feel certain you will enjoy meeting Denis Strokov and I am sure that once you meet him, you will want to keep on seeing him.
I hope you and Andra are well and I look forward to seeing you on your next visit to London.
Sincerely yours,
Gilbert Barlow

Ms Sandra Root
1028 Avenue of Americas
New York, New York 10022
Dear Ms Root,
Maria Nelson has been my secretary for five years. I will be sorry to lose her services when she moves to New York next month. But I agree with her decision and feel she is the right person for the position she is seeking with your company.
Ms Nelson is one of those rare individuals who can both follow instructions and take initiative. Her competence extends beyond the secretarial skills for which she was originally hired, she has capabilities to organize team work and manage the personnel.
Ms Nelson put in many hours on her own for working out a document processing system which proved to be very effective. I have no hesitation in advising you to hire her.
Very truly yours,
Joseph P. Putt
